With Valentine’s day almost here, more people than ever are considering the way that they come off to a potential romantic partner. That said, it can be a little bit difficult to really know exactly what it will take to make the best impression.

Certain surveys, however, seem to suggest that having a good smile is one of the best things that you can do. Here’s what those surveys say, and what you can do to give you the smile that you’re looking for.

Is The Data on Your Side?

Recently, the dental survey firm DentaVox asked people about what turned them off of a partner. 68% of respondents said that they had decided not to date someone because of an oral health problem. Furthermore, 57% of people claimed to have stopped dating someone because of bad breath specifically.

Interestingly, this comports with some older studies that we’ve known about for a while. A survey conducted by Match.com all the way back in 2013 found that 71% of women and 58% of men said that good oral health is a must have in a potential romantic partner.

How to Get a Smile That Impresses

If you want to get a smile that won’t turn off a romantic partner, there are quite a few ways that you can go about that. If your teeth need a lot of help, cosmetic dentistry can address just about any issue you might have.

Teeth whitening can erase yellow stains, direct bonding can patch up flaws, and veneers can cover up most issues that you may have with your teeth. Cosmetic dentistry is boundless, so you can feel free to ask your dentist about any particular insecurity you may have about your teeth.

While you’re talking to your dentist, it may be a good idea to get a checkup and cleaning to ensure that you don’t have any plaque buildup. Then pair that with good dental hygiene, and you should have a smile that will put anyone at ease.
