Frequently Asked Dental Questions Selbyville

Answering Your Most Common Dental Questions!

Our patients ask us many questions about our Kramer Dental team and about modern dental procedures. We've given brief answers to the most commonly asked below. Please feel free to contact our dental office in Selbyville if you'd like more information or if you have any other questions or concerns. We'll be glad to help.

Do you accept new dental patients?

We welcome new patients into our dental office and very much appreciate any referrals that you give us. Many patients come to us or are referred to us for just restorative or cosmetic dentistry and continue to see their regular dentist. We are honored by your trust in us.

How can I safely whiten my teeth?

We will start with our recommended in-office treatment. A one hour process that will jumpstart your whitening treatment. Once this is complete, we provide you with whitening kits that you will use at home. We’ll explain how you can safely use the kit and then monitor your progress and your sensitivity to the whitening agents. We’ll work with you until you achieve the results you’re looking for.

What makes you different from any other dental office I could visit?

We bring to our patients a level of skill, knowledge, and experience that's difficult to match anywhere in the area. You'll see it not only in the thoroughness of our initial exam but also in the very exciting results that we are able to achieve with cosmetic and restorative dental procedures. Most importantly it's the people that make up our staff that make the difference. We have a team of dedicated professionals who have two great desires: to continue learning the latest advances in dentistry and to service patients so they feel they are special.

Crowns, veneers, onlays, and inlays; where can I learn more about these procedures?

We encourage you to bring all your questions about restorative and cosmetic dental procedures to us! You can call or schedule an appointment and we'll be glad to sit down and explain any of these procedures to you. We can also discuss how such procedures might be of benefit to you.

What is smile design?

Smile design is the process of studying your mouth, teeth, and facial features and then coming up with a treatment plan that will give you the best possible function and smile. We don't just take your picture and manipulate it with a computer to change the look. We take diagnostic scans of your teeth, make a diagnostic wax up, using them to determine what is actually possible to achieve in your mouth.

How does the dentist keep up to date on all current techniques and materials?

Dr. Paul J. Kramer and Dr. James K. Kramer take many hours of continuing education each year to learn about new dental treatments and to evaluate whether or not they are the best alternatives for their patients.

How do I know when it's time to come in for a dental checkup?

At the end of each checkup appointment, we try to schedule the next one so that you'll have plenty of time to put it on your calendar. We'll also send out reminder postcards and give you a courtesy call a few days ahead of your appointment to remind you of the date and time.

What different payment options do you provide?

We ask that patients pay at the time of service. If you have dental insurance, we'll print out any forms that you may need to send into your dental insurance carrier. We also have some extended dental payment options; please ask our dental office staff for details.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?

Bleeding gums could indicate that you're not brushing and/or flossing enough-and they can also be a signal of periodontal disease. Please call our dental office to schedule an appointment for an evaluation. Periodontal disease, if left untreated, can lead to other serious health conditions such as heart disease and stroke.

I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want to wear braces. What would you recommend?

You don’t have to put up with the discomfort and expense of braces to improve your appearance. Bonding or porcelain veneers can give you the smile you want in a very short time. Please call our dental office for more details. Some patients may benefit from clear braces like Invisalign™.
